Company-Wide “Bridge of Honor” Initiative Championed by COO Robert Goyette,
Himself a Former Officer Serving in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps
ORLANDO — Nov. 2, 2022 – Bridge Senior Living today announced this year’s list of the company’s senior communities organizing special ceremonies or commemorations of residents who are U.S. military veterans.
On or around Veterans Day (Nov. 11), many of Bridge Senior Living’s 35 communities in 17 states will host local commemorations inside the community or, in some cases, with field trips to local attractions or restaurants favored by their veteran senior residents.
Celebrated internally as part of the company’s “Bridge of Honor” initiative, many Bridge Senior Living communities feature a Wall of Honor commemorating current or past residents who served in the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marines, U.S. Coast Guard, and/or U.S. military reserve forces. Each resident with military service is honored with a framed photograph in uniform taken during their U.S. Armed Forces tenure. The wall provides a space for remembrance and reflection enjoyed by residents and visitors to the senior community.
Bridge Senior Living COO Robert Goyette, himself a former officer serving in the U.S. Air Force medical service corps, said championing the Bridge of Honor initiative was a natural point of passion.
“There are hundreds of Bridge Senior Living residents who served our nation to provide security for our American way of life, and now it’s our duty to honor these brave veterans for their countless contributions and service,” said Goyette. “Each year, I look forward to learning how the participating Bridge Senior Living communities create a local commemoration around their Wall of Honor.”
Examples of 2022 Veterans Day commemorations by community include:
- Pin ceremony hosted at The Bridges at Warwick in Jamieson, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 7, and on Nov. 11 at The Enclave of Newell Creek in Mentor, Ohio; Jackson Oaks Senior Living in Jefferson, Georgia; Magnolia Brook on Siegen in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Somerby Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida; Summer Breeze Senior Living in Savannah, Georgia; and Summer Village Senior Living in Auburn, Alabama.
- The Enclave of Newell Creek will also host a special WWII Movie Night for residents.
- Jackson Oaks Senior Living residents will also travel to attend a local cookout hosted by the American Legion.
- The Landing of Long Cove in Mason, Ohio, will host a morning ceremony and treat veteran residents to lunch at their favorite local restaurant.
- Somerby Franklin in Franklin, Tennessee, will host a special breakfast, including a flag ceremony with local R.O.T.C. Then residents will ride on a float in Franklin’s annual Veterans Day Parade.
- Summer Breeze Senior Living is also hosting a special concert and happy hour.
- Summer Village Senior Living’s pin ceremony will be part of a special lunch ceremony featuring a local high school color guard.
- Woodbridge Place in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, is hosting a special ceremony with military music, and the community will install its Wall of Honor later this month.
