Now in its Third Year, Month-long Festive Competition Is Celebrated to Inspire
Positive Physical and Mental Wellness for Senior Living Residents and Staff
ORLANDO and INDIANAPOLIS — Dec. 6, 2022 – Bridge Senior Living and its longtime partner Tx:Team this month kicked off the third-annual 25 Days of Fitmas at eight senior communities spanning four states.
The fun in-community competition encourages senior living residents and staff to participate in several planned activities intended to promote both physical and mental well-being during December holidays.
“At any age, as everyone gets immersed in the busy holiday season it’s easy to get overwhelmed with social, emotional, and physical demands,” said Ann Hightower, Tx:Team director of internal operations. “We created 25 Days of Fitmas during the pandemic to reinforce the importance of maintaining one’s physical and mental health during what can be a challenging month.”
Participating Bridge Senior Living communities span four states and several cities including:
- Alabama: Fleming Farms in Huntsville, Somerby Mobile and Somerby St. Vincent One Nineteen near Birmingham, and Summer Village in Auburn
- Georgia: Somerby Peachtree City and Somerby Sandy Springs near Atlanta
- South Carolina: Somerby Mount Pleasant near Charleston
- Tennessee: Somerby Franklin near Nashville
The program with Bridge Senior Living’s longtime partner Tx:Team consistently earns great feedback and participation from Bridge Senior Living residents. Through 25 Days of Fitmas any resident or team member can give themselves this great gift for their body and mind.
Bridge Senior Living lifestyle directors collaborated with Tx:Team’s in-community therapy professionals to build a competition calendar tailored to the senior community’s interest and needs. Activities include actions like decorating one’s door for the holidays, donning a seasonal outfit for Ugly Sweater Day at the senior community, or completing a physical activity like “eggnog curls” with handheld weights or dancing to a favorite holiday tune in the fitness center.
Scores are tabulated while participants have fun and challenge themselves, striving to earn points in up to 12 activities, with a handful of makeup days built into each community’s 25 Days of Fitmas program. All participants turn in their scorecards by December 28th for Tx:Team therapy team members to tally, with prize packs delivered to multiple residents and one Bridge Senior Living staff member per community in time for the new year.
